The Countries Of Central America Agreed About Common Currency
The leaders of countries of Central America agreed about creation of united regional currency and introduction of general passports, AFP reports December, 6.
Such are main points of final statement of participants of summit of the Central-American integration system (Sistema de la Integracion Centroamericana, SICA) in Honduras.
It is talked in a document, that these measures must promote the level of regional integration in the conditions of crisis of the world financial-economic system. The Latin-American leaders underlined a necessity to develop "regional consciousness, which suggests people sense of belonging to the united Central-American region". In general complication the resulting document of meeting under the name "Plan of Urgent Measures" is contained by 41 points.
In a summit the presidents of Honduras, Guatemala, Salvador and Nicaragua, and also representatives from Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic and Belize took part.
At the end of November the participants of other Latin-American organization declared about creation of united currency area - Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean (ALBA), where Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominica, and also Ecuador on rights for an observer, enter.
